HIS DARK MATERIALS

My friends and I have recently been reading (I use that term loosely, for I do not read. I audio booked it) Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” trilogy, and in a universe where your soul is called a demon and is represented by an animal the character of Miss. Coulter and her golden monkey is by far my favorite so far.

mean street
This is a little doodle I did of an alligator. Now the way you can immediately tell this is an alligator, and not a crocodile is be the snout; an alligator has a sharp snout while a crocodile has a more rounded C shaped snout, quick tip “A” shaped snout for alligators, “C” shaped snout for crocodiles. Another way to tell a croc from an ali is in behaviour alligator are generally less aggressive then croc’s, there for can very easily function in our society much like Sasha here. He’s an enfedimine junky.

Ahh summer romance
This is the only surviving concept work from a summer project I rather not mention the name of. Not that is wasn’t fun, and I got to know some pretty cool people because of it (they look at this blog so I have to cheese a little). However the project whose name I will not note did leave a bad taste in my mouth. Sort of like bumping into a long forgotten one nightstand and realising that those beer goggles were thick and you should have worn a condom. Well on that note this is the bastard child of that summer a work I call MONKEY… DON don doahhhhhnn!

OH, photoshop you make it so easy to be cheap

Well this is a location design for the movie I’m working on with my friend and roomy Trev. I would love to get your insight on this piece, whether or not it works some colour suggestions what you think sort of thing. I would appreciate it if you did not spare my feelings. Kick me in the balls if necessary.

Black Mamba
28’x48’ this is the second instalment of my affair with pop art; just as edward it is an acrylic work. I must admit that when this movie first came out I did not want to see it, when I saw the Bruce Lee style bike jacket and pants I thought it was nothing more then a Hollywood style ripe off job. But then when my friend Anto told me it was done by Quentin Tarantino, well then I had to see it. And the rest is how they say history. On a side note this is also a DVD that is giving my a lot of irritation I don’t want to get it until the two volumes come out together in one package and I’m still waiting because I know the minute I get them the collectors addition vol. 1 and 2 pack will come out and kick me right square in the left nut
Hold me... I can't...
Ah Edward Scissorhands, my first serious canvas piece. This shameless plug of Edward is an acrylic piece 21’x 28’, and was loosely inspired by Ashley wood’s painting style. As a kid a did not like this movie but as I grow into my dark troubled cliché “artistic” self I intern also grew to love this movie. I have paid greatly for this change of heart because a new version of this movie has come out recently; an anniversary addition nicely packed in a steel tin is insolently mocking me to purchase it. But I already have the old version. Why am I consumerisms bitch? A VHS tape would come out once and that’s it, these DVDs have a new version every month. I can’t keep up, I have no more money, I sold all my hot wheels, I’m working tree jobs, forced to work the streets, and sell my self just to get all the movies I want. FUCK! I can’t sleep I’m paint the guy, my friends don’t recognise me! I’m sorry, I’m sorry about that out burst.
